Make your own pizza night has become one of our families favorite weeknight meals. Like many, during the pandemic we haven’t been able to enjoy our regular dinner nights out. Over the summer I was determined to create a fun atmosphere for dinner out, where we could feel safe and social distance. I came up with Make your Own Pizza night with Homemade Pizza Dough. We each can make our own personal pizza with our favorite toppings, then pack up a picnic and head out to a green space that overlooks our state capital. Make your own pizza night became a Friday night tradition that we all looked forward to.
Reveling in our warm summer nights, a yummy personal pie, and a time to run and play while enjoying the beauty of our city. Although this summer tradition started out of a necessity to feel some sort of normalcy when our world had been turned upside down by the pandemic, this is now a tradition that will continue for your family.
Making my own Pizza dough was much easier than I thought, after a few times of making the dough it became easier and tastier with practice. I’ve been using a pizza dough recipe from The Blue Apron Cookbook, a list of things to know about making pizza dough.
- Mix your ingredients in a stand mixer with a dough hook.
- Proof your dough, you’ll place your dough in a large oiled bowl and let sit in your fridge for at least 24 hour or up to 36 hours.
- Divide your dough into four balls and let that proof on a lightly oiled baking sheet. cover the pan with plastic wrap and let sit for another 1 to 2 hours.
Making your own pizza dough is something you’ll need to prepare in advance, I usually put my dough together and place it in the fridge for example on Thursday morning for our Friday night outing.
Once your dough is proofed you’ll roll out each pizza, this recipe makes four pizza’s that are approximately 11″ each.
The fun part personalizing your own PIE!
Done and hot out of the oven! As the cooler weather has settled in, we are still loving our Make your own Pizza Night yet, now we set out a few games in our living room, settle in, and enjoy our fresh pizza pie picnic style on the sofa.
Cheers to good food and family.
